The River has Roots, Amal el-Mohtar

Amal el-Mohtar has distinguished herself as a speculative fiction writer with a uniquely lyrical style. The River has Roots is her first solo novella (she previously wrote This is How You Lose the Time War with Max Gladstone) and it is a lovely little fairytale about sisters and love. 

Its short and I honestly cant summarize it better than it was told.
